The 2016 NFL Draft is almost upon us and that means the culmination of months of work for the general managers and scouts across the league. After poring over hours and hours of player interviews, game tape and testing variables, it will soon be time to make the picks that make the difference between winners and losers in the NFL. And that means there will be significant pressure to get it right. For some teams, that pressure to succeed in the war room in the coming days is greater than ever. Here are six teams I feel absolutely have to come out of this Draft feeling good about their work in Chicago. Beginners guide Why is the Draft important? Cleveland Browns Ben Roethlisberger was selected 11th overall by the Steelers in 2004 after the Browns missed out In recent years, the Cleveland Browns have wheeled and dealed around draft boards and turned their back on the chance to draft genuine NFL superstars such as Ben Roethlisberger, Julio Jones and Odell Beckham Jr. in the process.Instead, the Browns have collected multiple draft picks and, for the most part, wasted them. So what have the Browns done this year under new management? The very same thing that hurt this club in the past - they have turned down the chance to select the second quarterback in this NFL Draft and must now make good on the multiple picks heading their way over the next three years. The approach makes sense given that the Browns are so devoid of talent and need to fill multiple areas of need. But this time around they have to hit on the multiple selections, especially if Carson Wentz turns out to be a star and the Browns are still searching for their first true franchise quarterback since re-entering the NFL in 1999.Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck will celebrate if the Colts recruit some protection for him The recent drafting history of Colts general manager Ryan Grigson has not been all that great, in my mind. Indianapolis were crying out for an offensive lineman early last year and Grigson spoiled himself by grabbing another wide receiver in Phillip Dorsett when that was not an area of need. The Colts need to add some beef in the trenches - on offense and defense - and have to find a way to get franchise quarterback Andrew Luck some better protection. And this team cannot be pushed around as badly as they have been in recent years on defense.Grigson and head coach Chuck Pagano were at loggerheads last year yet both received four-year contract extensions. Its time for them to make their marriage of convenience work and that means drafting as many big men as possible in the coming days.New York Giants After signing Olivier Vernon, how much is left in the kitty? When the Giants stumbled to the end of a disappointing 2015 campaign, head coach Tom Coughlin paid with his job and was replaced by Ben McAdoo. Many felt the same fate would fall upon general manager Jerry Reese, but he somehow survived and although his seat is hot, he has a chance to re-build a crumbling roster.Reese did a nice job in free agency but massively over-spent in signing Olivier Vernon, Jason Pierre-Paul, Damon Harrison and Janoris Jenkins. Thats not the most financially prudent way to stock your roster and the Big Blue could pay for that extravagance down the road. This Draft is crucial for Reese to find some younger and cheaper players. He should be feeling the heat as Giants owner John Mara said: Every Draft is important but this one more so than usual. Its time to pick it up.Gulp!San Francisco 49ers Will the 49ers try to replace Colin Kaepernick? This time last year the 49ers were suffering through a series of high-profile defections and retirements. And they have yet to even scratch the surface in terms of rebuilding their roster. The Niners had money to spend in free agency but seemingly wanted no part of the spending spree and that puts added pressure on general manager Trent Baalke heading into this NFL Draft.San Franciscos needs are multiple and we have to wonder if they currently have their starting quarterback on the roster in Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers have to stop the bleeding and begin their rebuild and it all begins with this Draft.Denver Broncos Malik Jacksons exit means Denver have large shoes to fill Defending Super Bowl champions dont normally hit too many panic buttons heading into an NFL Draft the following year but the off-season raid of the Denver Broncos has raised the stakes for the Mile High club.It was bad enough for Denver to lose Malik Jackson and Danny Trevathan on their Super Bowl defence, but what are they planning to do at quarterback? Brock Osweiler jumped ship and joined in Houston and I have to wonder what the Broncos are going to do about that all-important position in Chicago this week. The Broncos currently have Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian on their roster and, in my mind, neither is anything close to being the long-term answer. Whether it be via a conventional pick or a trade, the Broncos have to do something at quarterback this week.New Orleans Saints Saints may opt to replace Drew Brees or bring in protection for him The Saints are feeling the heat on the defensive side of the ball because they set numerous unwanted records in 2015. Can they upgrade that unit enough in the coming days and not waste yet another season for Drew Brees?Or will they draft the eventual replacement for the 37-year-old Brees? There has been some reported interest in Paxton Lynch out of Memphis but taking a passer in the first round might rock the boat just a tad too much on Thursday night. Its also important to remember that the Saints have some serious salary cap issues and would love to stock their roster with some younger and cheaper players. This is a vital draft for the Saints if they are go get back into playoff contention. Also See: How to watch the Draft Beginners guide Offensive options Top 10 Draft moments Cheap Fake Jordans . TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Jalen Hurts went to his star receiver after a first half of misfires and missed opportunities with a simple message: Lets settle down.It worked wonders.Hurts threw two third-quarter touchdown passes to Ridley, and Ronnie Harrison scored on a 55-yard fumble return, in No. 1 Alabamas 34-6 victory over Kentucky on Saturday night. The Crimson Tide (5-0, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) overcame a week full of potential distractions and a slow start to run away from the Wildcats (2-3, 1-2).He actually came to me and said we need to calm down, Ridley said. Hes one of those guys. I think hes like the Jameis Winston guy. Just like hes very cool when somethings going wrong, hes like, `Calm down, calm down and lets just keep going. And I answered him, `Youre right, lets play. The Hurt and Ridley Show took over the second half, hooking up on scoring passes of 10 and 19 yards and plenty in between. Hurts passed for 262 yards, including 173 in the third quarter.Ridley gained 174 yards on 11 catches, both career-highs.Freshman tailback Joshua Jacobs rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown in his first start with Kentucky native Damien Harris playing a limited role after spraining his right ankle last week against Kent State. The performance came two days after star linebacker Tim Williams arrest on a misdemeanor charge of carrying a pistol without a permit. Williams was suspended for the first half and still had three tackles for loss and a sack.Backup quarterback Blake Barnett left the team and withdrew from school this week, too.None of that mattered much in the final three quarters, though Kentucky did hold a 3-0 lead for half the first quarter.Challenged them a little bit at halftime, Tide coach Nick Saban said. I didnt think we sort of imposed our will in the first half how we could have or should have or wanted to, however you want to say it.Kentucky couldnt overcome two first-half fumbles, the first coming in Tide territory.dddddddddddd.We had a chance to do some things and go up by at least six and we gave up the turnover there early, Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said. That we cant do.Hurts couldnt produce any big plays in the passing game until the opening drive of the third quarter. He rolled toward the right sideline and found Ridley wide open for a 46-yard gain. Two plays later, he did the same thing and again Ridley was open -- this time in the end zone.THE TAKEAWAYKentucky: The Wildcats scored first but couldnt get anything going offensively, getting outgained 488-161. Stanley Boom Williams came in averaging 116 yards a game and finished with 22 yards on nine carries.Alabama: The defense sparked the Tide when Hurts and the passing game werent clicking. Alabama had four sacks. Harris logged only two carries and big-play receiver ArDarius Stewart sat out the second straight game with a knee injury.NON-OFFENSIVE TDS: Rashaan Evans stripped the ball from quarterback Stephen Johnson and Harrison scooped it up and sprinted to the end zone in the second quarter. Alabama leads the nation with five defensive touchdowns and seven non-offensive TDs.JOHNSONS NIGHT: Kentucky quarterback Stephen Johnson was 13 of 22 for 89 yards, lost two fumbles and was sacked four times. Saban said Alabama noticed he was a little loose with the ball.I was just trying to make something happen and I didnt hold the ball like I should, Johnson said.POLL IMPLICATIONSAlabama could lose some ground at the No. 1 spot with No. 5 Clemson and No. 3 Louisville clashing in a much more meaningful game.UP NEXTKentucky hosts Vanderbilt in a matchup of SEC East teams in need of a win.Alabama visits No. 20 Arkansas to begin a three-week stretch against ranked teams.----APs college football website: www.collegefootball.ap.org ' ' '
