CLEVELAND -- Just about everybody in the ballpark wanted Carlos Carrasco to finish off his first career complete game Sunday. Including the guy who took him out. "He had pitched great, but I thought it was time to get him out of there," Cleveland manager Terry Francona said after Carrasco worked 8 2-3 innings and the Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox 2-0 to complete a three-game sweep. Carrasco (7-4) allowed four hits, struck out eight and didnt walk a batter, extending his remarkable turnaround since rejoining the rotation last month. However, with two on and the potential go-ahead run at the plate, Carrasco knew Francona would come to the mound and call for closer Cody Allen. "I wanted to finish so bad," said Carrasco, who waved toward the dugout after Jose Abreus two-out single in a last-ditch attempt to stay in. "He made the right move, but I was thinking, give me one more, please." Adrian Nieto led off the ninth with a single before Adam Eaton hit into a forceout. Carrasco struck out Carlos Sanchez, but rookie slugger Jose Abreus single to left ended the day for Carrasco, who was given a standing ovation by the crowd of 17,597 as he walked to the dugout. Allen retired Conor Gillaspie on a line drive to centre for his 19th save. Cleveland trails first-place Kansas City by five games in the AL Central, but moved within 3 1/2 games of Seattle for the second wild card. Carrasco is 4-0 and has allowed three earned runs in 38 2-3 innings over six starts since Aug. 10. He began the season in the rotation, but was banished to the bullpen after going 0-3 with a 6.95 ERA in four starts. "This has been so nice to see," Francona said. "You put a guy back in the rotation and hope for the best. It looks like hes getting stronger with every game." Although Carrasco pitched well in relief, going 3-1 with a 2.30 ERA and a save in 26 appearances, no one expected this kind of success -- even the pitcher himself. "Im surprised," Carrasco said. "I feel great. Its something I have right now and I need to continue it." White Sox manager Robin Ventura watched his team score two runs in the series. "That kid today was great," Ventura said. "He had a lot of life on his fastball. Hes throwing up there at 97-98 (mph) and his breaking stuff was great. You could see by some of the swings the movement that he had." Michael Brantleys RBI single in the first put Cleveland ahead. Carlos Santana added a run-scoring groundout in the eighth. Scott Carroll (5-10) held the Indians to two runs in seven-plus innings, but received no help from his offence. Chicago has lost 14 of 18. WINNING TIME Carrascos strong stretch began with five scoreless innings against the New York Yankees on Aug. 10, his first win as a starter since June 29, 2011, when he defeated Arizona. That broke a streak of 17 consecutive starts in which he had a loss or no-decision. WALKING MAN Santana drew his major league-leading 100th walk in the first inning. Hes walked 90 or more times in each of the last four seasons. TRAINERS ROOM White Sox: OF Avisail Garcia got a day off. Abreu, who has been dealing with general soreness, was the DH again. Ventura expects Abreu to return to first base sometime this week. Indians: INF-OF Mike Aviles (concussion) is increasing his activities, but theres no timetable for his return. He was injured attempting to make a diving catch in right field Monday. UP NEXT Indians: RHP Danny Salazar (6-6), coming off his first career shutout, will start Monday against the Angels. RHP Jered Weaver (15-8) pitches for Los Angeles. The game is a makeup from a June 18 rainout. Wholesale Fake Vans .Y. - The Philadelphia Eagles game at Green Bay against the Packers on Nov. The small-town West Texas kid calmly led a winning drive at the home of the Dallas Cowboys. McCoys successful return to his home state trumped Tony Romos dramatic return to the game. McCoy directed Washington to Kai Forbaths 40-yard field goal in overtime and Dallas was unable to answer after Romo came back from an injury to his surgically repaired back, sending the Redskins to a 20-17 victory on Monday night that snapped the Cowboys six-game winning streak. Playing in Dallas stadium for the first time since his Texas-record 45th victory in the 2009 Big 12 championship game against Nebraska — 13-12 on a last-play field goal — McCoy won in his first NFL start in nearly three years after beginning the night with a career record of 6-15. Last-second wins, right? McCoy said, laughing. But I grew up as the game went on. I felt more and more comfortable and I started seeing the defence right. We made some plays down the stretch that good teams have to make to win games. It might be McCoys only start if Robert Griffin III is ready to return from a dislocated ankle that has sidelined him since Week 2. The Redskins go to Minnesota on Sunday, and then have their bye week. Roberts our starter, coach Jay Gruden said. I havent wavered off of that in my mind. When hes ready, hell be ready to go. The Cowboys (6-2) had one last chance after Forbaths kick, but didnt get a first down. Romos final pass on fourth down was knocked away by Bashaud Breeland. Dallas running back DeMarco Murray extended the record he took from Jim Brown a week ago with his eighth straight 100-yard rushing game to start the season. He had 141 yards rushing and another 80 receiving, but also had his fifth fumble of the season at the end of a 36-yard screen pass inside the Washington 10 in the first half. Romo left after getting sacked by Keenan Robinson in the third quarter. He lay motionless for several minutes but returned for the final Dallas drive of regulation. Well, its terribly disappointing, owner Jerry Jones said. Jay Gruden and his staff, their organization, they came in here and took it to us and they won the game. We couldnt get it done. The 34-year-old Romo, who had surgery for a herniated disk last December, reached for his back after the hit and stayed flat on the ground before trainers rolled him to his side. He walked tto the locker room mostly under his own power.dddddddddddd Coach Jason Garrett said X-rays were negative and Romo had a back contusion. Even if I hadnt had back surgery, I probably would have felt that one pretty good, said Romo, who was 17 of 28 for 209 yards and a touchdown while getting sacked five times. It was a direct shot. Romo played through a back injury against the Redskins last year, leading a winning drive that kept the Cowboys playoff hopes alive. But he had to sit out a season-ending loss to Philadelphia that kept Dallas out of the post-season for the fourth straight year. This time, it was McCoy leading the Redskins (3-5) to their first NFC East win since beating Dallas with a playoff spot on the line in the 2012 finale. He took over for an ineffective Kirk Cousins at halftime last weekend and led a drive to Forbaths game-winner on the final play of a 19-17 victory over Tennessee. The Redskins lost eight division games in a row — and their last seven games in prime time. I just tried to stay composed, said McCoy, who was shaky early and threw an interception in the end zone with Washington in scoring range. I dont know if it was nerves or not. I called a play wrong in the huddle one time. But we found a way to win and found a way to play well in the second half. McCoy, who was 25 of 30 for 299 yards, threw 23 yards to Pierre Garcon to get the winning drive going. On third-and-3 from midfield, he fled the pocket, pointed to Jordan Reed to run up the field and lofted a pass that Reed caught while tiptoeing inbounds. Another 16-yarder to Reed made Forbaths job much easier. Brandon Weeden took over at quarterback after Romo was hurt, and his first play was a handoff to Murray for 51 yards to the Redskins 6, but the Cowboys had to settle for a field goal. McCoy put Washington up 17-10 early in the fourth quarter with a 7-yard run on a quarterback draw, slicing between three defenders across the goal line. Weeden answered with a matching 80-yard drive capped by his 25-yard scoring pass to Jason Witten. NOTES: Not only did Redskins RT Tyler Polumbus get replaced as the starter by Tom Compton, he wasnt even active for the game. ... Dallas LB Justin Durant sustained a season-ending torn arm muscle in the fourth quarter. ... Redskins S Brandon Meriweather had two sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. ' ' '
