Gold Coast could be in private hands by the end of the year following Jarryd Haynes stunning move to the NRL club.The NRL, who own the Titans after stepping in to alleviate their financial hardship last year, had initially anticipated it could be at least another year before the club moved into private hands.However, that is expected to change following Haynes multi-million dollar two year deal with the Gold Coast.After their unexpected success this year the signing of Hayne is expected to move the Titans from a position as an NRL battler to a significantly more influential, important and high profile club.Titans board members Rebecca Frizell and Darryl Kelly, both respected Gold Coast business people have been mentioned as individuals who might be interested in becoming private investors in the club moving forward.The NRL has kept the Titans at arms length despite their ownership, leaving Titans powerbrokers to conduct the day-to-day dealings at the club, including the signing of Hayne.The NRL had to sign off on the deal, but did so as it would with any other club.But the NRL is acutely aware of the boost that Haynes signing will give to the Titans, as are Titans officials themselves.Titans boss Graham Annesley anticipated Haynes move to the Titans would exponentially increase the value of and interest in the club.
