Louisville announced on Friday that it will honor former quarterback Dave Ragones No. 15 jersey at Saturdays home game against NC State. Ragone played at Louisville from 1999-2002 and is a three-time Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year.Ragone is currently the quarterbacks coach for the Chicago Bears, but he has the weekend off after the Bears 26-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.?A three-year college starter, Ragone played a big part in building the Louisville program into the national contender it has become today as a member of the ACC. Ragone led Louisville to a 26-20 upset of then-No. 4 Florida State in 2002. With Ragone under center, the Cardinals won two Conference USA championships and made three bowl games. The Cardinals 2000 C-USA title was the schools first conference title since 1972.Ragone tied the school record for wins by a starting quarterback with 27. He is the only three-time player of the year honoree in Louisville history and hes just the third C-USA player to ever win three offensive player of the year awards, joining former Memphis running back DeAngelo Williams and former Houston quarterback Case Keenum.Ragone finished his Louisville career with 8,564 passing yards, fourth in school history, and threw for 74 touchdowns, placing second in the schools record book. His No. 15 becomes the Louisville football programs 21st honored jersey. Nike Shoes Black Friday OnlineLOS ANGELES -- Rainouts happen in baseball. Maybe not often this early in the fall, but they happen. The game gets rescheduled, and both teams have to deal with the ramifications to their starting rotations. Its an inconvenience for each side. But when Game 2 of the Los Angeles Dodgers-Washington Nationals division series was rained out, two of the most powerful men in sports were genuinely bummed. That would be Dodgers chairman Mark Walter and team president Stan Kasten, who planned to fly from Washington D.C. to Minnesota on the off day of the baseball series to attend Game 1 of the WNBA Finals between the Los Angeles Sparks and Minnesota Lynx.Instead of being able to watch baseball on Saturday and womens basketball on Sunday, they were forced to stay in D.C. for the rescheduled baseball game while the Sparks took on the Lynx, and neither was happy about it.Since buying the Sparks in 2014, Walter and Kasten have become huge fans. It wasnt a surprise for Walter, the CEO of Guggenheim Partners, a global financial services firm that manages upward of $240 billion in assets. His daughter plays basketball and volleyball, so he has an appreciation and connection to the game. In fact, Walters wife and daughter skipped the baseball game and still went to Minnesota to represent ownership at Game 1 of the WNBA Finals. We are truly very excited for both our teams, said Walter, whose Sparks have an opportunity to clinch their first title since 2002 Sunday in Game 4 (ESPN, 8:30 p.m. ET). The women on the Sparks are so talented and hardworking. They are also playing to prove something. We are all pulling for them. This year for the Dodgers, with all the injuries, I am so proud of our players working hard through it. We got contributions from so many; I really hope we will be fortunatee enough to keep it going.ddddddddddddFandom sneaked up on Kasten after he helped buy the Sparks in 2014.I didnt know how much I would love it, said Kasten, who has run both MLB and NBA franchises throughout his career. At first, Kasten said, It was about saving the team in the city, which made a lot of sense for me as were building our own establishment, our own profile, in the community. But once he went to a WNBA game, he was hooked.I love it, he said. I love the team. I love the women on this team. I have so much appreciation for how extraordinary their professionalism is. Obviously I know something about basketball [from his time as GM of the Atlanta Hawks], but I had no appreciation for how good the WNBA was until the first two minutes of my first game.I was stunned, like, Whoa, this is real world-class, high-level basketball. It was so impressive.Since then, the famously intense executive has turned his attention to managing the Sparks as well. He attends as many games as possible, even scheduling his baseball travel to catch the Sparks on the road at times. Hes even caught himself watching the second game of a WNBA doubleheader -- after the Sparks game ended.Im very much into it, he said. What I really love about this team is we obviously have stars. We have one two-time MVP (Candace Parker), another current MVP (Nneka Ogwumike), a Sixth Woman Of The Year (Jantel Lavender). We have stars, but you really see them playing great, high-level team basketball, which is great. Thats the perfect combination. ...Its been very exciting, and having them in the Finals ... I know how much it means to all of them.It would mean a lot to him, too. ' ' '
