Rebecca Adlington believes Great Britains Olympic swimming team can claim a decent haul of medals in Rio this summer. There are just 80 days to go until the Games and double Olympic gold medallist Adlington has high hopes for the British swimming squad. The swimming team are looking so good, Adlington told Sportswomen on Sky Sports News HQ. Youve obviously got Adam Peaty, James Guy and Siobhan-Marie OConnor - I really hope she gets a medal - and then Jazz Carlin and youve also got people like Fran Halsall on the team. We could see four to six medals as we have never really had that depth before. Hopefully if we are all on form, touch wood, we can pick up a lot of medals.World champions Peaty and Guy headline a 26-strong Team GB Olympic squad for Brazil which was selected following last months National Championships in Glasgow. The English pair will make their Olympic debuts in Rio, as will Welsh Commonwealth champion Carlin. Head coach Bill Furniss (left) and some of the GB swimmers (Siobhan-Marie OConnor centre) Sky Academy Sports Scholar OConnor also secured her spot on the team last month, but this will be the second Games for OConnor, who won World Championship bronze in the 200m individual medley in Russia last summer.Adlington has backed 20-year-old OConnor to perform well in Brazil, saying: We are going to see her go in the 200m in the medley and hopefully she can do well. She is in a tough event but she has a shot at a medal here. She has become a smart athlete with the way she races. Shes a gutsy swimmer and thats what I love about her, she just gives it her all. She is such a passionate swimmer so hopefully she can pick up a medal in Rio. OConnor competes in the womens 200m individual medley at the British Swimming Championships in Glasgow Adlington was also full of praise for four-time Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds. She said: With Ellie nothing is impossible, thats what Ive learnt. She is a hard worker who really wants to push herself and she wants to push for world records, not just for medals. I think she is going to be a huge success in the summer. Ellie Simmonds, four-time Paralympic champion Team GB will be looking to improve on a very disappointing Olympics at London in 2012 where the British swimmers failed to achieve their Olympic medal target of five, winning one silver and two bronzes, both of which went to Adlington. However, hopes for the summer will be high after a youthful squad achieved a record-breaking haul of medals at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan. Also See:Silver for Miley in LondonPain and gain of making RioRio boost for Daley in KazanParalympian barred over tattooCheap Jerseys Review . The Blue Jackets acquired him in a January trade that sent center Ryan Johansen to Nashville.General manager Jarmo Kekalainen said Jones is a huge part of the young core that we believe in.Acquiring Seth Jones was very important to our organization and reaching a long-term agreement with him to remain a Blue Jacket was a priority, Kekalainen said.At 21, Seth is just beginning to tap into his potential as a player. He has everything you look for in a defenseman and is going to be a very important player and leader on our team for many years. In three NHL seasons, Jones has 17 goals and 66 assists for 83 points. Last season he led Columbus defensemen with 31 points despite playing just 41 games with the team after the trade.Jones couldve signed an offer sheet with another team Friday, and the cap-strapped Blue Jackets very likely would have matched. This way, they got the deal done on their terms. The Arlington, Texas, native and son of former NBA player Popeye Jones said he never entertained thoughts of joining another team.I really like the way the teams going, Jones said at a news conference Wednesday.dddddddddddd I really did want to stay here and get something done.A right-handed shooting defenseman, Jones was a luxury for the Predators, who already had a strong blue line with Roman Josi, Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Ellis and on Wednesday acquired P.K. Subban from the Montreal Canadiens for captain Shea Weber. For the Blue Jackets it was worth parting with Johansen to get Jones, who has the potential to be an elite No. 1 defenseman as he develops.Jones averaged 22:04 of ice time last season and set career highs in assists, points and shots on goal. After using up significant cap space to sign Jones, the Blue Jackets bought out the final two years of defenseman Fedor Tyutins contract. He was set to count $4.5 million against the cap, and this move saves almost $3.3 million.Fedor Tyutin is a pro in every sense of the word and has been an important player for the Columbus Blue Jackets for many years, but this decision is a result of the current depth on our blue line and to add some financial flexibility for our club moving forward, Kekalainen said.Moving forward also means the upcoming Las Vegas expansion draft. Tyutin was one of six Blue Jackets players with a no-movement clause and thus would have had to be protected, leaving Columbus forced to expose some of its stars.No-move clauses have to be protected, Kekalainen said. Everybody can draw their conclusion from that. ' ' '
