LONDON -- Russia faces being kicked out of the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro in the latest disciplinary action by a sports body infuriated at growing evidence about the countrys state-sponsored doping program. The International Paralympic Committees decision Friday to start suspension proceedings against Russia came two days before IOC leaders decide whether to exclude the countrys entire team from the Olympics next month in Brazil. The IPCs strong condemnation of Russias years of doping deception, including the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi, pulls back on the support it gave the country last month. It follows the publication of a World Anti-Doping Agency investigation by Canadian lawyer Richard McLaren into Russias state-backed doping which found samples from Paralympic athletes were made to disappear or were swapped. The report revealed an unimaginable scale of institutionalized doping in Russian sport that was orchestrated at the highest level, IPC President Philip Craven said. McLarens findings are of serious concern for everyone committed to clean and honest sport. The IPC decried a prevailing doping culture endemic within Russian sport at the very highest levels and said the countrys Paralympic body appears unable or unwilling to ensure compliance with and the enforcement of anti-doping measures. The IPC is sending 19 samples from the Sochi Paralympic Winter Games for immediate further analysis after McLarens investigators said they could have been doctored by Russian authorities.Russia finished second in the medal standings at the 2012 London Paralympics and has 267 athlete slots for Rio in 18 sports.A decision is expected in the week commencing Aug. 1 whether to ban Russia from the Sept. 7-18 Paralympics. Russia would have 21 days to appeal. We have started proceedings to consider the suspension of their membership of the IPC, Craven said. This decision was not taken lightly but ... Russia appears unable to fulfil its IPC membership obligations in full.Russian President Vladimir Putin presented Craven with Russias Order of Honor after the March 2014 games.---Rob Harris can be followed at www.twitter.com/RobHarris and www.facebook.com/RobHarrisReportsAtlanta Braves Store . 9. And by kids, I mean most people under 30.Symptoms of being infected by Pokemon Go are wandering around cul de sacs with faces glued to screens, wandering down the street with faces glued to screens, and/or wandering through the park with faces glued to screens. In short, theres a lot of wandering and faces glued to screens. It is what is referred to as an augmented reality game that is an open world version of the more structured role playing game (RPG) that most associate with pokemon. Instead of a given story line, however, players roam the world finding different pokemon and can develop their characters by participating in the world at pokestops, and gyms.Once players reach level five, they can choose between three teams: Team Mystic, Team Valor, and Team Instinct. That adds an extra layer to battling at gyms and leveling up pokemon for those who look to play the game for more than a few minutes on a Saturday. It sounds like a dumb game, but the pandemonium (and 7.5 million downloads) added 9 billion dollars to Nintendos value according to the Wall Street Journal. Plus, as someone who loved Pokemon as a kid and will still play on occasion, the idea of catching a pokemon underneath my desk is the most exciting thing since the announcement of Civilization VI.So obviously I played it.The GoodHeres the thing: this game is super fun. I caught a squirtle and breakfast then ran across the parking lot at Price Chopper to catch a Rattata and a Zumbat. This game was built for me. Over the years, there have been multiple generations of pokemon, but Pokemon Go is a throwback to the first generation, which is perfect for older pokemonn souls.ddddddddddddI also have not willingly darted across a parking lot and walked quite a distance just for fun in quite a awhile. Too long actually. For gamers who might love the couch a bit too much, Pokemon Go takes the game outside. Its fun and movement all at once. The BadSo about my parking lot jaunt.I ran across the Price Chopper parking lot, darted into the store, chased the Rattata around the produce section, caught it, and left. I am certainly not alone in running into a store and not buying anything, for the sake of it. Stores are actually banning the practice. One woman found a body. There has also been a string of museums banning Pokemon Go from their premises as well. Come on people, quit playing at the Holocaust Museum. And the 9/11 Memorial. Thats not cool. The UglyPokemon Go operates under the fundamental assumption that the world is open and free to access for any person. While that is a lovely idealistic dream, it is not the reality for many people. As a queer woman of color, walking around neighborhoods where I do not reside is dangerous. Snooping around buildings is dangerous.Even without the additional nuance of identity, for children and young adults to be roaming their surroundings without necessarily paying attention causes havoc. A warning on the opening screen doesnt exactly cut it. What if a kid wanders onto train tracks trying to catch a pokemon, or into the street? What about the young adult who meanders into the wrong yard? There have already been robberies, accidents are not outside the realm of possibility. Its all fun and games until someone gets hurt, and that day could be coming soon for Pokemon Go ' ' '
