CHICAGO -- Minnesota Twins right-hander Phil Hughes will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder.General manager Terry Ryan said before Tuesdays game against the White Sox that he expects the 30-year-old Hughes to be ready for the start of spring training.Hughes suffered a fracture of his left femur when he was hit by a line drive by Miamis J.T. Realmuto on June 9. He was expected to miss at least two months because of that injury.But Hughes was also experiencing right shoulder pain and was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. The July 6 surgery will require the removal of a rib.Hughes had struggled and lost velocity amid pain and fatigue in his shoulder and was demoted to the bullpen before he was hurt.
