COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 3 Ohio State had reeled off double-digit wins in its first 10 games. As Delawares players watched some of the film from those victories, they began to wonder, "What would the Buckeyes do if they were in a tight game?" They found out on Wednesday night, hanging around for most of the game before falling 76-64. "Thats one of the things that we realized, looking at their past games -- that they really hadnt been in a dogfight," said Jarvis Threatt, who had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Hens (5-6). "We just tried to make it a game and we fell a little short." LaQuinton Ross scored 19 points, including eight in a decisive 15-0 run in the middle of the game, for Ohio State (11-0), while Lenzelle Smith Jr. had 14, Aaron Craft 12, Amir Williams added 11 points and 12 rebounds and Amedeo Della Valle finished with 10 points. The Blue Hens led by as many as six points in the opening 4 minutes. They never led after Marvin King-Davis hit a short jumper with 3:31 left in the half to put them up 26-25. Then the Buckeyes ran off the last 12 points of the half to take a 37-26 lead and then Ross opened the second half by hitting a 3-pointer. Still, Delaware didnt fold. The Blue Hens twice cut the lead to eight points, the last time at 68-60 with 1:48 remaining on a second consecutive layup by Saddler right down the heart of the lane. But Smith hit a jumper and two free throws and the game was out of reach. "Our guys stood toe-to-toe for the most part with who Im going to call the best team in the country," Delaware coach Monte Ross said. "Im just going to say that and Im going to keep saying that because we played them. I hope they win every game the rest of the way." Saddler, still rounding into shape after a seven-game disciplinary suspension, had 17 points to lead the Blue Hens, who have lost three straight. It was their second of three games in six days, all in the BlackRock Gotham Classic. Both teams will be playing in the same final round of the "tournament" at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, with the Blue Hens meeting Bryant and Ohio State squaring off against Notre Dame. "We played good but there were some things at our own end that we didnt capitalize on for us to pull out the win," said Davon Usher, who had eight points, seven rebounds, a block and a steal for Delaware. "We felt we had a chance to come in here and win but we just messed up on some things on our part." The Blue Hens hung tough despite being outrebounded 46-30. Ohio States guards -- Craft and Shannon Scott -- are considered among the best defensive tandems in the country. But the Blue Hens gashed them for 28 points in the paint, mostly on one-on-one drives through the middle of the defence. "We knew that Delaware has a heck of basketball team," Buckeyes coach Thad Matta said. "Theyve got guys who can really score it. They hit some difficult shots, but thats what they do and theyre good at it." The Blue Hens fell to 0-8 against Big Ten teams, 0-17 against Top 10 teams and 0-29 against ranked opponents. The only time the Blue Hens played a higher-ranked team was No. 2 Duke last season. But this loss certainly wasnt because they were intimidated. "I told our guys coming in, we couldnt blink," Delawares Ross said. "It was a terrific environment for college basketball that Ohio State, overstating the obvious, is used to playing in. But our guys didnt shrink from the moment or the atmosphere." Dante Exum Jazz Jersey . Louis still looking for a way out of Tampa Bay, the 38-year-old NHL veteran isnt showing his cards. The difference is this time he caught the ball from quarterback Colin Kaepernick instead of assistant athletic trainer Nathan Breske. No matter. Davis delivered with touchdown catches of 61 and 35 yards and finished with a career-best 180 yards receiving to lead the San Francisco 49ers to their third straight victory with a 32-20 win Sunday. "Every day that Im in practice I work on that play," Davis said. "You want to work on it because its difficult. You really have to keep your eyes on the ball, you have to focus and just wait for it to come down." Even coach Jim Harbaugh was unsure Davis had it. Davis wound up with eight catches in his first 100-yard game of the year and second straight with a touchdown reception of at least 60 yards. He had a 64-yarder in a 34-3 rout of the Texans. Davis has scored touchdowns in three straight games after going without a TD in the teams two losses. "Those were great plays he made," Harbaugh said. Here are five things to know from San Franciscos win against Arizona: LOSING CAMPBELL: Arizonas much-improved defence lost end Calais Campbell to an unspecified injury in a scary scene. After landing awkwardly on a tackle of Frank Gore, Campbell was down for several minutes with teammates and 49ers players gathered around before being carted off with 4:56 left in the game. Coach Bruce Arians said it was a precautionary move. "He left the field with movement and the feeling was coming back," Arians said. "He had numbness. It was precautionary." Cardinals spokesman Mark Dalton said on Twitter that Campbell "was taken to a Bay Area hospital to undergo precautionary MRI and CT scans. Initial results have been positive and he will continue to be evaluated." Campbell was released from the hospital late Sunday, returned to Arizona and was at the team meetings Monday morning. PALMERS PROBLEMS: Palmer sure has been a mixed bag so far in his first season as Arizonas quarterback. On Sunday, he went 21 for 45 for 298 yards and two touchdowns with a pair of interceptions and a sack in the end zone for a 49ers safety. It didnt help his cause beginning drives at his own 12, 3, 1 and 7 in the first half. And Arizona has been among the worst in the NFL for red-zone production. "Youve got to scorre more points than we did," he said.dddddddddddd SECONDARY GAMBLES: A week after getting three interceptions in a rout of the Houston Texans, San Franciscos aggressive secondary was at it again. Rookie Eric Reid had his team-leading third interception in the first quarter and ran it back 53 yards to set up Phil Dawsons first field goal of the day. Tramaine Brock, who had two picks the previous week against Matt Schaub and earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honours, gambled later as the 49ers gave up Larry Fitzgeralds 75-yard touchdown. Then, Carlos Rogers made his first interception of the season. But Rogers got beat on Brittan Goldens 53-yard reception midway through the second quarter that set up Andre Ellingtons 15-yard touchdown run. Still, all eight of San Franciscos takeaways the past two games have resulted in points. "Coach Vic (Fangio) has been preaching that since training camp, getting back to the basics of being physical and getting turnovers," Reid said. "As many turnovers as we can get, thats what we like to do." FITZGERALDS OUTING: Fitzgerald had a season-best 117 yards receiving on six catches and scored his 12th career touchdown against the 49ers to match Andre Rison for most all-time against San Francisco. But a costly fumble with his team driving in the third quarter erased any joy from his big day. "I am not going to sleep at all. I let my team down in that situation," Fitzgerald said. "I wish I could take it back. We were driving, running the football, really the momentum in our favour and I got a little careless with the football. To be in a game that close, you cant have those kinds of mistakes." QUIET DAY FOR BOLDIN: Anquan Boldin dropped the ball on the first two passes thrown his way, though one was low and slightly off target from Kaepernick on San Franciscos first play. Boldin couldnt get a hold of the ball for what would have been a 20-yard gain. He wound up with just three catches for 28 yards while facing his former team. After getting 13 catches in his 49ers debut against Green Bay, Boldin had 13 combined over the next four games, then the three Sunday. The Cardinals chose him in the second round of the 2003 draft out of Florida State, and he still holds several franchise records. Boldin did make career catch No. 800 Sunday. But he wasnt celebrating one bit. "Nothing," Boldin said when asked about the milestone. "Weve got to win. Thats all that matters." ' ' '
